Differential 5Gbps

The ERmetZD connectors easily integrate into existing backplane and subrack designs utilizing the Hard Metric (HM), CompactPCI or Eurocard design standards. This new connector shares with the Hard Metric connector (IEC 61076-4-101) such mechanical design features as: key layout dimensions, pin heights, sequential mating dimensions, plastic coding keys, and press-fit hole requirements.

The new connector system is specifically designed to meet the challenging electrical performance requirements required by next generation designs utilizing low voltage differential signaling. The connector provides low cross-talk, low skew, improved trace routing, reliable dual beam contacts, 1.5 millimeter mating intervals and a rugged housing; all in a 100 ohm differential signaling environment.

ERmet ZD Cable System

Ensures Reliable Transmission of High-Speed Signals

Right Angle Female Type 2 For Daughter Cards

ERmet ZD type 2 female connector provides in the 10 wafer version 20 contact pairs (40 signal contacts and 20 ground contacts).

The female type 2 is available with pressfit or SMT termination. Additionally, the ERmet ZD type 2 female connector has four pre-alignment pegs which provide easier alignment, improved rigidity and reliable polarisation. The layout grid facilitates integration with conventional 2 mm HM (IEC 061076-4-101) connectors.

Right Angle Female Type 3 For Daughter Cards

The ERmet ZD type 3 female connector provides in the 10 wafer version 30 contact pairs (60 signal contacts and 30 ground contacts).

The female type 3 is available with pressfit or SMT termination. Additionally, the ERmet ZD type 3 female connector has four pre-alignment pegs which provide easier alignment, improved rigidity and reliable polarisation. The layout grid facilitates integration with conventional 2 mm HM (IEC 061076-4-101) connectors.

Right Angle Female Type 4 For Daughter Cards

The ERmet ZD type 4 female connector provides in the 10 wafer version 40 contact pairs (80 signal contacts and 40 ground contacts).

The female type 4 is available with pressfit or SMT termination. Additionally, the ERmet ZD type 4 female connector has four pre-alignment pegs which provide easier alignment, improved rigidity and reliable polarisation. The layout grid facilitates integration with conventional 2 mm HM (IEC 061076-4-101) connectors.

Vertical Male Type 2 For Backplanes

The ERmet ZD type 2 male connector provides in the 10 wafer version 20 contact pairs (40 signal contacts and 20 ground contacts). This series supports three levels of sequential mating.

The male type 2 is available with pressfit or SMT termination. The "L" shaped shields are robust mechanical structures that provide an ideal differential environment as well as protecting the signal pins and resisting deflection that could cause stubbing. Various module length are offered in two pair wide configuration. The two pair wide version is ideal for applications in combination with ERmet 5+2 connectors because of the same width of 15.4 mm.

Evaluation Kit

The two evaluation kits, single line version (part no. 163210) and multi-line version (part no. 163211), are developed to measure the signal integrity behaviour of the advanced differential pair connector system ERmet ZD. Each evaluation kit contains the test boards and a CD Rom with the description of the measurement set up and relevant technical information.

The single-line- version can be used to determine:

  • Differential impedance of single signal pairs
  • Crosstalk between two signal pairs
  • Transmission and reflection behaviour of single pairs
  • Propagation delay of single pairs

The multi-line version (part no. 163211) is specially designed to determine the multi-line crosstalk between up to 10 signal pairs and to measure a connector directly at its pins.
